Monte McNair is here to stay.

Fresh off of signing a three-year extension to remain general manager of the Sacramento Kings, McNair joined The Carmichael Dave Show with Jason Ross on Wednesday morning to talk about his new deal, explain what it means for the current front office that has built the Kings into a winning team, and much more.

McNair, 38, has been the architect behind the Kings’ ascension from the Western Conference cellar to one of the best teams in the NBA thus far into what has been a wildly successful 2022-23 season.

Topics Discussed Include:

  • McNair talks about how fun it has been to follow the fanbase’s reaction to this season
  • Who did McNair want to tell first when he signed his new deal?
  • How distracting was the contract situation for McNair, and was he relieved to get this process out of the way?
  • McNair talks about what it means to hear his name in the Executive of the Year conversations
  • “I’m happy the fans are enjoying this. It’s a validation of some of the moves we have made, but we feel that we can continue to build on this and build toward something bigger and better.”
  • McNair says that ending the playoff drought is the top priority, but doing so in a way that the franchise can also progress to the next step quickly.
  • “The proof is in the pudding. The wins have to come. That’s what we are going to be judged on.”
