One Raiders legend does not believe Tom Brady should be the team’s next quarterback.

Tim Brown joined the Maggie & Perloff show earlier this week, and the subject of the Raiders’ next quarterback came up. Toward the end of the 2022 season, the Raiders benched long-time starter Derek Carr for Jarrett Stidham.

Brown said he hasn’t seen enough of Stidham to make an assessment, but he thinks coach Josh McDaniels believes in his former New England Patriots backup.

But, many experts believe the Black & Silver will try to lure Tom Brady to Vegas to continue his illustrious career. However, the Fall-of-Fame receiver believes that’s a bad idea. Why? Because the league has moved on from the traditional pocket quarterback and Brady’s age is starting to show.

“When you look at the quarterbacks in the league today, you have very very few who are pocket quarterbacks,” Brown told Maggie & Perloff. “I mean, Joe Burrow is probably the closest thing you get but God knows, when it is time to run, he can get out of the pocket and make it happen. Tom Brady is never going to do that. And I just don’t believe in this league, yeah, Tom won all these Super Bowls, but I just think the league is going to the point where you have to have a quarterback that’s able to move around and get some things done with his feet every once and a while.”

The Las Vegas Raiders drafted Derek Carr in 2014, starting 142 games for the Silver and Black. Over his nine years as the team’s starter, Carr threw for a franchise-leading 35,222 passing yards and finished with 62-78 record. He technically made the playoffs twice, but in the first appearance, he did not play because he was injured by the time the postseason rolled around.

For the 2022 season, in which Carr started 15 games, he threw for 3,522 yards, 24 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. Stidham started the team’s final two games, throwing for 656 yards, 4 touchdowns and 3 interceptions.
