Brock Purdy looks forward to playing on the road in Philly: ‘You love to go in those environments’

Very rarely do NFL rookie quarterbacks get an opportunity to start in an NFC Championship game. The ones that do typically crumble under the bright lights and hostile crowd atmosphere. That’s not the case for Brock Purdy.
The San Francisco 49ers rookie relayed Friday that he is looking forward to going into Philadelphia this weekend. Sure he’d rather be playing at home in front of the Faithful, but it’s games like this one where you find out what your team is truly made of.
“That’s one of the main reasons why we all play the sport. You love to go in those environments where as many people as possible are watching the game,” Brock Purdy said Friday. “It’s why you play the sport, we love the adrenaline and the excitement that comes from it. So, to go on the road and do your thing as a team, it feels really good when you’re on point.”
Already beating their rivals, the Seattle Seahawks, on the road to clinch the NFC West, Purdy knows this week is a little different.
The Eagles are red-hot heading into the conference championship, downing the New York Giants, 38-7, last weekend. And with a rambunctious crowd behind the team, the rookie knows that everything is at stake for the 49ers Sunday.
“You can say it is just another game, but there’s a lot on the line. All of our goals and dreams are in front of us. We want to do everything we can to accomplish that, so it is a little different,” Purdy stated.
Mr. Irrelevant has learned a lot since taking the wheel Week 13, some it was unexpected. Among the life lessons is one that sticks out like a sore thumb: It doesn’t matter how good you’re playing, if you don’t show up each week, you’ll get embarrassed in the NFL.

Another lesson he’s harnessed is the ability to stay in the moment.
Brock Purdy has stayed grounded the past two months, using his fifth and family to stay centered under pressure. Now only one game away from playing in a Super Bowl in his home state of Arizona, Purdy is thankful for all the well wishes back home, but he’s only focused on Philadelphia at the moment.
“It’s all cool and stuff for them to appreciate where I’ve come from and being from Queen Creek, Arizona with honor and Gilbert, Arizona, which is awesome. And I appreciate everyone but for me and my family, It’s like ‘man, we got another game in front of us to handle’…So, that’s how I’m looking at it,” Purdy stated.
