After another year of terrorizing quarterbacks everywhere, San Francisco 49ers’ defensive end Nick Bosa is preparing for a slightly different offseason.

Entering the final year of his rookie contract, the 49ers’ pass rusher is scheduled to begin negotiations on a massive extension before the end of next season. But a deal like this takes time, even if both sides want it. That’s why Bosa isn’t too worried about a new deal at the moment, letting his agent, Brian Ayrault of CAA Sports, take care of that for the time being.

“Yeah, I’m definitely going to have patience, Probably not going to worry about it for some time. I have an amazing agent who will handle all that. I’ll just enjoy my time off and get ready to roll next year,” Nick Bosa told reporters Tuesday.

Coming off a year of leading the league in sacks (18.5), Bosa will likely be crowned the Defensive Player of the Year at the NFL Honors show on Feb. 7th. With that comes a realization that the 25-year-old could become the highest-paid defensive player in football.

That mantle is currently held by LA Rams’ defensive tackle Aaron Donald, making an annual salary of $31.66 million with his most recent deal.

While Bosa didn’t rule out the possibility of that Tuesday, it doesn’t seem to be his biggest concern at the moment.

“Not necessarily. We’ll just see where it goes,” Bosa added.

Drafted by the 49ers in 2019, the Ohio State alum would love to remain in the Bay long-term. Yes, money plays a factor for the pass rusher. But the facilities in San Francisco, and how they’ve treated him over the last four years, could be the biggest reason for continuing his career in Red & Gold.

“I’d love to be here, for sure,” Nick Bosa stated. “This is a great organization, they treat me as good as you can and I have some amazing relationships here so hopefully.”
