Finally getting the recognition he deserves, Christian McCaffrey will be heading to Las Vegas for the 2023 Pro Bowl.

The San Francisco 49ers running back was revealed as a replacement for the NFC roster Tuesday, taking the spot of Eagles’ RB Miles Sanders. McCaffrey will be a starter in the All-Star game, joining DL Nick Bosa, S Talanoa Hufanga, TE George Kittle, FB Kyle Juszczyk, LB Fred Warner and T Trent Williams as the seventh 49er to make the 2023 Pro Bowl.

Since being traded to the 49ers from the Carolina Panthers midseason, CMC has been a spark plug for the offense.

Playing in all 17 games this season, McCaffrey makes his first Pro Bowl honors since 2019. He finished the 2022 regular season with 1800 scrimmage yards and 13 touchdowns, 10 of those coming as a member of the 49ers. Run CMC has amassed 8,482 total yards and 60 total TDs in his NFL career.

McCaffrey’s biggest drawback has been his health, only playing 10 games in two seasons before 2022. Battling lower body injuries down the stretch this season, CMC proved just how impactful he was in the NFC Championship, breaking off a 28-yard scamper for the team’s lone TD of the game.

Under contract until 2026, McCaffrey will be a long-term cog for the Red & Gold, already appreciative of the organization after a few months with the organization.

“There’s a lot of emotions that come at you at once. I think obviously it’s disappointing and we wanted to be playing and have a shot to play in the Super Bowl,” Christian McCaffrey told reporters postgame Sunday. “But at the same time, I’m unbelievably grateful for the way this team took me in in the middle of the year.

“It feels like a family in there. From the coaches and the ownership to the players, I’m grateful for everyone in that locker room.”

The 2023 Pro Bowl will take place in Las Vegas at Allegiant Stadium on February 5, 2023. Starting at 12:00 p.m. PT, the 2022 Pro Bowl Games main flag football matchup will be aired on ABC, ESPN, ESPN+ and Disney XD.
