Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry left Saturday’s game against the Dallas Mavericks with an injury.

The team released a statement a day later, saying “Curry suffered partial tears to his superior tibiofibular ligaments and interosseous membrane as well as a contusion to his lower leg.” This could be his second extended period of time missed because of an injury, sitting out 11 games earlier in the season with a shoulder issue.

With the injury, The Athletic’s Anthony Slater tweeted Curry is expected to miss the All-Star game.

If Steph Curry does indeed miss the NBA All-Star game because of his injury, then commissioner Adam Silver would name the replacement. Since Curry was named a starter in fan voting, Denver Nuggets coach Mike Malone, who has been named the coach of Team LeBron, would choose a player from the reserves to start.

Who fills Curry’s spot in the All-Star game?

De’Aaron Fox

When the All-Star games reserves were announced on TNT, analyst Charles Barkley said he was shocked Fox wasn’t selected alongside teammate Domantas Sabonis.

And he wasn’t the only one. Many in Sacramento hoped the Kings’ guard would be named to his first All-Star game.

The 25-year-old is in the midst of another strong season, averaging 24.1 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 6.2 assists per game while shooting 50.5 percent from the field.

The combination of Fox and Sabonis have led the Sacramento Kings to their best record in years, currently 3rd in the NBA’s Western Conference with a 30-23 record on Feb. 7, 2023. Last year, the team reached 30 wins on the final game of the season.

Anthony Edwards

Another young star having a breakout season is the young Timberwolves guard. The 21-year-old Edwards is averaging 24.7 points, 6 rebounds and 4.5 assists.

But, Edwards had a feeling he wasn’t going to get selected. He told reporters after the reserves were named he didn’t even watch the announcement.

“I’m just never the one that’s selected for things like that, I feel like I’ve got to go above and beyond,” Edwards said. “I will next year, so I ain’t tripping.”

Currently, the Minnesota Timberwolves hold the 8th seed and a record of 29-27 which puts them in the play-in area of the playoff race.
