Nearly a month after the Raiders’ season ended, the accolades continue to roll in for running back Josh Jacobs.

Over the course of the 2022 season, the 24-year-old running back rushed for 1,653 total yards, securing the NFL’s rushing title. Jacobs is only the second Raider to win the NFL’s rushing title. Raider legend and Hall of Fame running back Marcus Allen led the league in rushing in 1985, his MVP season, with 1,759 yards.

On Thursday night at the NFL Honors ceremony, the league introduced the Jim Brown Award to honor players with the most rushing yards in a season. And with his rushing title, Jacobs was named the inaugural winner.

Jacobs said in a press release he’s honored to be the award’s first recipient.

“Jim’s excellence on the football field was unparalleled and his role as a leader off the field showed his unwavering strength and commitment to the community,” Jacobs said in the release. Jim’s impact can be felt today and his legacy continues through everyone that strives to make a difference. I am beyond proud to receive an award named for such a great man.”

Josh Jacobs was also honored with the NFL’s FedEx Ground Player of the Year award. Twice throughout the season, the Raiders running back was named the FedEx Ground Player of the Week. In one of those weeks, he set the Raiders’ single-game rushing record when he ran for 229 rushing yards against the Seattle Seahawks.
