Sac State Women’s Basketball win Big Sky Tournament; advance to NCAA tournament

For the first time in school history, the Sacramento State Women’s Basketball team is advancing to the 2023 NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament.

The No. 3 Sacramento State took down the No. 1 Northern Arizona Wednesday afternoon for the Big Sky Tournament Championship, 76-63.  Kahlaijah Dean, a Sac State senior and the Big Sky regular season MVP, was named the Big Sky Tournament MVP.

This continues a year of firsts for the Sac State Women’s Basketball team, which include:

  • 1st Big Sky Tournament championship
  • First NCAA Tournament appearance
  • Most wins in program history (25)
  • First Big Sky regular season crown

The Hornets will learn their NCAA tournament opponent on selection Sunday.
