The 49ers have had a few wins & losses this free agency, this time losing cornerback Emmanuel Moseley.

Reports surfaced Tuesday that Moseley will be leaving San Francisco, opting to sign with Dan Campbell and the Detroit Lions. The deal is reportedly for one year, $6 million, giving Moseley the opportunity to increase his value before the 2024 offseason.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter was first with the news.

Drafted by the 49ers in 2018, Moseley worked his way up the depth chart to become a vital member of the secondary the last few seasons. Serving as the No. 2 CB next to Charvarius Ward last season, “E-Man” racked up 22 combined tackles, five passes defended and one pick-six in five games.

In the closing moments of Week 5 against the Carolina Panthers, Moseley tore his ACL, ending his season prematurely. Expected to be ready to go for training camp, E-Man gets a shot at becoming the No. 1 cover-man in Detroit.

A player San Francisco has revered for years, the team hoped to bring him back on a budget deal. But after making splashes in free agency elsewhere, they let one off their own move on to the NFC North.

“He’s a free agent. He’s a guy we’d have interest in bringing back because of the way he plays, but also what he stands for. He’s one of us and we’d sure like to have him back,” general manager John Lynch previously stated.

Moseley, 27, is now the second member of the secondary to leave the Bay this offseason after safety Jimmie Ward agreed to terms with the Houston Texans Monday.
