Jordi Fernandez, Sacramento Kings associate head coach, joined Cattles and Ramie Friday to discuss the latest news around Kevin Huerter’s injury, the team’s style of play and not settling with just a winning record.

Topics discussed include:

  • Thursday’s win against the Brooklyn Nets was “an ugly win.”
  • What tone does Domantas Sabonis set by playing through pain
  • Keegan Murray’s progression and starting as a rookie for a team that is playoff bound.
  • His approach when coaching the Sacramento Kings
  • “We play fast and it’s not just changing hands, there’s a lot of body movement and ball movement in the halfcourt. And the pace that we play with in the halfcourt, it’s tough to keep up for the other teams.”
  • If the coaching staff and team were worried following Kevin Huerter’s injury?
  • “Losing Kevin would’ve been not good for the rest of the team. He plays a big role for us…but the good news is he’s day-to-day. I talked to him today, he’s in a good place. So whenever he’s ready to come back, we’ll be happy to have him back.”
  • How the team, more specifically the starting five, has been lucky and healthy enough to play to many games and minutes together.
  • What has he taken from Mike Brown that he can use as a head coach one day?
  • While he’s happy for the fans and the city, the team is not celebrating winning 41 games.
