The San Francisco 49ers have decided to keep the tight end group intact from last season, re-signing Ross Dwelley to a one-year deal.

The team announced the signing Monday, keeping Dwelley in the Bay for at least next season. San Francisco has not released figures of the contract at this time.

Ross Dwelley, an Oak Ridge high school alum, has spent his entire career with the Red & Gold, joining after going undrafted in 2018. Brought onto the practice squad initially, the tight end has improved with each season, becoming a reliable blocker/pass-catcher for head coach Kyle Shanahan.

The 49ers released a statement Monday to announce the move.

Since signing with the team as an undrafted free agent in 2018, Dwelley has appeared in 72 games (17 starts) and registered 43 receptions for 506 yards and five touchdowns. He has also appeared in seven postseason contests. Last season, Dwelley appeared in 12 games and finished with three receptions for 105 yards and one touchdown.

A 28-year-old native of El Dorado Hills, CA, Dwelley attended the University of San Diego where he appeared in 47 games (44 starts) and totaled 197 receptions for 2,305 yards and 26 touchdowns.

San Francisco also announced the signing of defensive back Myles Hartsfield Monday, agreeing to a one-year deal with the 49ers. Hartsfield, 25, spend the last three years with the Carolina Panthers, accumulating 19 starts in 41 games played. Last season, the versatile DB registered 59 combined tackles, one forced fumble, and two passes defended.
