The San Francisco 49ers have been doing quite a bit of business this week, including throwing its’ hat in the ring for another Super Bowl.

Levi’s Stadium, home of the 49ers, is being considered the favorite to land Super Bowl LX, scheduled to take place on Feb. 8, 2026. In order to do that however, San Francisco is expected to receive a $120 million loan from the NFL’s stadium fund for renovations.

49ers CEO Jed York confirmed such to NBCSports’ Matt Maiocco at the NFL Owners Meeting this week, elated to have the opportunity to host the contest in the near future.

“My optimism is very high,” York said. “I feel very confident that we’re gonna get a Super Bowl in the near future.”

Levi’s Stadium played host to Super Bowl L in 2016, a game where quarterback Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos emerged victorious over the Carolina Panthers. The next two Super Bowls are set to be held at at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, and at the Superdome in New Orleans.

“It would be great to get Super Bowl LX after hosting Super Bowl L. It feels like Super Bowl L wasn’t that long ago,” York stated.

Considered the favorites to land the 2026 event, an official vote in May amongst NFL owners could seal the deal for Santa Clara.

Levi’s Stadium has also been awarded multiple matches in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, making a more compelling case for both stadium upgrades, and the likelihood of hosting the NFL’s Big Game in the coming years.

“I think those are two of the truly largest sporting events in the world,” York said about the sporting spectacles. “And having those back-to-back would be fantastic.”
