Sacramento Kings guard Matthew Dellavedova is expected to be temporarily out of action after undergoing successful surgery for a fractured finger.

The injury occurred On Wednesday, March 29, in the Kings’ 120-80 win over the Portland Trail Blazers, the same night the team clinched its first playoff berth in nearly 20 years. In the fourth quarter, the 32-year-old veteran from Australia suffered a right index finger fracture. Dellavedova finished the game with one assist in just six minutes of play.

A week after the injury, the team announced Dellavedova had surgery and will “begin rehabilitation immediately and is expected to make a full recovery.” No timetable was given for his return, however the team said updates will be given when appropriate.

Matthew Dellavedova spent last season playing with Melbourne United in Australia before joining the Kings. In nine NBA seasons, the 6’3 guard has won one NBA Championship and has averaged 5.2 points and just under 4 assists.
