With the Western Conference playoff picture coming into focus, the Sacramento Kings will hold out several members of its rotation on Friday night against the Golden State Warriors.
De’Aaron Fox (left ankle soreness), Kevin Huerter (right popliteus injury management), and Domantas Sabonis (left ankle soreness) will all sit out of Friday night’s regular-season home finale at Golden 1 Center, per head coach Mike Brown.
Sacramento (48-32) has a top-three seed locked up and has already secured home-court advantage through the first round, but the team still had its eyes on the second seed spot in the West coming into Friday night’s action.
Seeing that the Memphis Grizzlies are closing in on clinching the second seed with a win over the short-handed Milwaukee Bucks, the Kings have decided to rest its key contributors as they prepare for the playoff run.
There is still plenty left to be determined in finding out which Western Conference competitor Sacramento will face in the first round, but the race for the sixth seed will become clear on Saturday.
Golden State, the Los Angeles Clippers, Los Angeles Lakers, New Orleans Pelicans, and Minnesota Timberwolves are possibilities for first-round matchups against the Kings.
