The NBA has suspended Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green for one game following his ejection from Game 2.
In the fourth quarter of the Kings’ 114-106 win over the Warriors, Kings center Domantas Sabonis was attempting to grab a rebound, but he fell. While on the ground, he grabbed Green’s foot. After getting his foot free, Green stomped on Sabonis’ chest.
In the league’s statement announcing the suspension, they cited that the suspension “was based in part on Green’s history of unsportsmanlike acts.” ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski spoke with NBA executive vice president Joe Dumars, who added it came down to “Excessive and over-the-top actions, conduct detrimental and a repeat offender. That’s what separates this where you end up with a suspension.”

“When I fell, I was protecting myself, and then the incident happened,” Sabonis said. “There is no room for that in our game today.”
Sabonis received an X-Ray following the game. In an update Tuesday, the team said, “results showed Sabonis sustained a sternum contusion.” He will be listed as questionable for Thursday’s game.

As the referees reviewed the play, Green riled up the Sacramento crowd yelling with fans behind the Warriors bench. Moments later, the refs announced their decision, a flagrant 2 for Green and a technical for Sabonis. Green was immediately ejected.
