Ravens, Lamar Jackson agree to 5-year, $260 million mega-deal Thursday

After the relationship seemingly went sour, quarterback Lamar Jackson will be staying with the Baltimore Ravens after all.

Reports surfaced Thursday that the former NFL MVP had agreed to terms with the Ravens on a mega-deal, keeping him in the AFC North through the 2027 season. The deal is reportedly worth five-years, $260 million, making him the highest-paid player in the NFL. Jackson will also receive $185 million guaranteed, as part of the contract.

Various journalists reported the news, with CBS Sports’ Josina Anderson confirming the numbers first.

Baltimore also confirmed the deal was set to be done, with Jackson posting a message to the Ravens Flock on social media.

“For the last few months, there’s been a lot of ‘he say, she say’. Lot of nail biting, lot of head scratching going on. But for the next five years, It’s a lot of Flock going on,” Jackson exclaimed with a big smile. “Let’s go baby. Let’s go, let’s go man. Can’t wait to get there, can’t wait to be there. Cant’t wait to light up [M&T Bank Stadium] for the next five years man, let’s get it!”

Lamar Jackson, 26, has surpassed all expectations since being selected with the last pick in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft, leading the Ravens to the playoffs four of the last five seasons. He holds an overall starting record of 45-16, winning the league MVP in 2019.

His future in Baltimore was far from certain however, with injuries derailing his last two seasons. The team’s relationship with the Louisville alum had soured to the point that the player submitted a trade request this offseason.

But after placing the non-exclusive franchise tag on him, and seeing fellow QB Jalen Hurts get paid, the Ravens decided to reward their star player in the end.
