After two hotly-contested playoff games the last two years, the 49ers will play host to the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football next season.

The NFL announced Thursday morning that the San Francisco 49ers will play Dallas in Week 5 of the 2023 regular season. In a clash scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 8 at Leviā€™s Stadium on NBC, the Red & Gold will look to get another win over their conference foes in the bright lights of Sunday night primetime.

This is the first meeting of the two squads on SNF since 1990. That game ended 24-6, in favor of the 49ers.

San Francisco last played Dallas in the NFC Divisional Round earlier this year, winning the contest 19-12. In that game, 49ers’ quarterback Brock Purdy completed 19 of 29 pass attempts for 214 yards passing. Running back Christian McCaffrey scored the team’s lone touchdown in the fourth quarter, while kicker Robbie Gould converted four field-goal tries in the game.Ā

The 49ers & Cowboys also met in the 2021 divisional round, with San Francisco winning 24-17 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.Ā

Thursday’s announcement marks the second game revealed for the 49ers next season. On Wednesday, the NFL announced that the Red & Gold are traveling to Philadelphia to take on the Eagles in Week 13 at 1:25 p.m. PT. After last season’s disappointment in the NFC Championship game, San Francisco and Purdy will have a chance at redemption in Week 13.

The full 49ers’ 2023 regular-season schedule will be announced at 5 p.m. Thursday, May 11.
