Howard Stutz, writer for The Nevada Independent, joined Chris & Co. with Kyle Madson Thursday to talk about breaking the latest news surrounding the Oakland A’s relocation attempts to Las Vegas.

Earlier this week, Stutz broke the news that Bally’s Corp. and the team have an agreement in place to build a stadium on a portion of land that currently houses the Tropicana Las Vegas.

But, just because there’s an agreement in place, doesn’t mean things are final. When asked what the odds are the Athletics actually relocate to Las Vegas, Stutz theorized the odds are probably still 50/50.

“All of us that are covering it wants to see the bill first,” Stutz said. “If it drags out, they don’t want to go to a special session. I can tell you that. The Legislatures don’t, I don’t think the governor wants to call a special session. So that’s where the challenge is.”

Additional topics discussed include:

  • Following the Oakland A’s relocation story for the past two years
  • What’s different between the two land agreements
  • “There’s a lot that can be done within that acreage at some point, but for right now, they’ve taken the urban village off the table and are just focused on the nine acres where they’ll put the stadium.”
  • Can the Oakland A’s get a funding package to the Legislature before their session ends?
  • Is there enough local interest in a professional baseball team?
  • If the deal comes together, when do the A’s move to Las Vegas and where do they play until their stadium is ready?
