The Giants’ five-game winning streak came to an end Tuesday night, but the team avoided a major injury to one of its key contributors.

In the eighth inning, as the Giants were down 2-1 to the Pittsburgh Pirates and looking to mount a comeback, outfielder Michael Conforto stretched his leg trying to reach first base. He succeeded but was seen stretching his leg moments later. He stayed in the game momentarily, before manager Gabe Kapler pulled him an inning later.

Kapler said after the game the 30-year-old Conforto is considered day-to-day and will be re-evaluated after Wednesday’s series finale with the Pirates. The team is off Thursday, June 1.

“He felt like it was 90 percent and felt pretty good at that point and felt strong about staying in the game,” Kapler said about initially leaving Conforto in before pulling him in the ninth inning. “He ran down the first base line and felt good, and when he came out of the game he just felt like he was having a little bit more difficulty slowing down.”

Conforto, who inked a two-year deal with the team back in December,  has recorded 11 home runs, 42 hits, and 28 RBIs on a .250 batting average through two months of play.

In other team moves:

Right-handed pitcher Luke Jackson has been re-instated from the 60-day injured list. Jackson has been working his way back from Tommy John surgery, last pitching in the majors for the Atlanta Braves in 2021. The Giants signed the 31-year-old veteran this past offseason to a two-year, $11.5 million contract. He had his best season in 2021, when he posted a 1.98 ERA in 63.2 innings pitched.
