Like we all expected, Draymond Green is staying on the Golden State Warriors.

Reports surfaced Friday afternoon that Green and the Warriors have agreed to a four-year deal worth $100 million that keeps him on the roster until 2027. The deal also includes a player option in Year 4. The Michigan native has been an integral part of the Warriors’ dynasty, thanks to his defensive tenacity and leadership.

NBA insider Marc Stein was first to report the deal, with others confirming it thereafter.

Green, 33, was drafted by Golden State in 2012 NBA Draft. Despite being a second-round selection, the Michigan State alum has made the most of his NBA career, making four All-Star teams. The former defensive player of the year has also made All-Defensive eight times, and All-NBA twice in his career.

A four-time NBA champion, Green has averaged 8.5 points per game, 7.2 rebounds, and 6.8 assists in 11 seasons. He remains the Warriors’ defensive anchor, playing alongside center Kevon Looney in the frontcourt.

Despite the team’s tumultuous 2022-23 season, the front office has made it clear that their heart & soul isn’t going anywhere.

“If Draymond’s not back, we’re not a championship contender,” coach Steve Kerr said in May. “We know that. He’s that important to winning, to who we are. I absolutely want him back.”

A player that the Sacramento Kings had interest in, now locked up long-term to spend the rest of his career with Stephen Curry in the Bay Area.
