Las Vegas Raiders running back Josh Jacobs has not yet signed his franchise tag or received a new contract. And with a Monday deadline looming, a new report suggests if he doesn’t get a new deal, he won’t report to training camp.

The deadline for NFL players to sign contract extensions or multi-year deals is 4 p.m. EST Monday, July 17.

According to the NFL, “after this date, the player may sign only a one-year contract with his prior club for the 2023 season, and such contract cannot be extended until after the club’s last regular season game.” If he does end up signing before Monday, July 17, the 2023 franchise tag for running backs is just over $10 million.

According to Paloma Villicana of Fox5 News in Las Vegas, she said in a tweet that she was told “by a source close to him that if a deal is not made between the Raiders and Josh Jacobs on Monday at 1PM. Jacobs will not be showing up for training camp.”

Villicana spoke to Jacobs at his youth football camp in Las Vegas. In that interview, Jacobs said he’s “feeling great” and “explosive.”

Because Josh Jacobs hasn’t signed his franchise tag, he would not be fined for missing camp because he technically is not part of the Raiders roster until that’s signed or he signs a new contract.

Prior to the 2022 season, the Raiders declined to pick up the fifth-year option for the 24th pick in the 2019 draft.

Then he went off. Josh Jacobs rushed for 1,653 total yards, securing the NFL’s rushing title and becoming only the second Raider to win the NFL’s rushing title. Raider legend and Hall of Fame running back Marcus Allen led the league in rushing in 1985, his MVP season, with 1,759 yards.
