New report suggests Nick Bosa, 49ers will have new contract ‘within the next few days’

Nick Bosa and news of his contract negotiations with the San Francisco is getting to the point that information is changing daily.

At the beginning of the week, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said on The Pat McAfee Show, “they’re not there yet and I don’t get the sense they’re close at all. So, I don’t get the sense anything is imminent.”

Well, apparently negotiations have improved between the two sides since Monday.

According to Jason Dumas, sports reporter in the Bay Area, posted to X, formerly known as Twitter, on Wednesday that Bosa will be with the Niners by Week 1.

“The two sides plan to get a deal done ‘within the next few days’,” Dumas posted.

Nick Bosa has held out the entirety of training camp as he seeks a long-term contract extension. The reigning Defensive Player of the Year racked up 18.5 sacks last season, which led the NFL. He’s currently entering the fifth year of his rookie deal.

Speaking with KNBR a day before the team traded Trey Lance to the Dallas Cowboys, general manager John Lynch said he doesn’t like the situation.

“Since our tenure here, we haven’t had a holdout to anywhere towards this magnitude. It’s not something I’m comfortable with,” Lynch told KNBR. “We’re working really hard to try to change that. We’re in good communication with his reps. He’s a special player, he’s going to get a special contract. I can tell you that. But we’re getting closer and eager to bring this thing to a close.”
