Davante Adams and Aaron Rodgers spent eight years together in Green Bay.

And when Adams was traded from the Packers for Las Vegas in 2022, he left Green Bay as the record-holder for catches, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns in a season. He also sits at number two all-time in receptions with 669 and receiving touchdowns at 73. All this is to say that he and Rodgers built a relationship together.

So when Adams watched as Rodgers’s debut for the New York Jets came to an abrupt end after four snaps because of a season-ending torn Achilles, he was blunt with how he felt. It sucked.

“I spoke to him directly and reached out immediately,” Adams said. “I was watching it on the plane as we were on the way over here, and it’s like a horrible movie. Like you don’t want to see the main character go down like that, let alone as early as what it was. I know he was excited and I was definitely excited to see him go there and ball out. I know he was feeling rejuvenated and excited about working with a really good team.”

The 39-year-old Rodgers was placed on the Jets’ injured reserve list, as coach Robert Saleh announced season-ending surgery will be required.

Davante Adams went on to say he’s praying Rodgers’s mental health is in a good place and “he continues to overcome it.”
