The Sacramento Kings are continuing to build out their training camp roster.

According to Sactown Sports’ own Frankie Cartoscelli, the Kings have signed Chance Comanche, and he is expected to be a full participant in training camp. The team has not yet announced the move.

Comanche (27) most recently played 43 games with the Stockton Kings during their G-League season. The 6’10” big also joined them for the California Classic and Las Vegas Summer League.

After playing collegiately with Arizona Wildcats for two seasons, Comanche went undrafted in the 2017 NBA Draft. He proceeded to spend the next season as a member of the Memphis Hustle. The following year, he was with the Canton Charge, then relocated to play for Ankaragucu Mamak in Turkey.

In 2022-23, three years removed from his prior G-League stint, Chance Comanche joined the Stockton Kings and impressed. He’s an extremely high-motor player who provides persistent hustle. In 43 games with Stockton, Comanche averaged 12.9 points, 7.2 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 1.4 blocks in 22.5 minutes.

His 49 total blocks were the sixth most of any player in the G-League last season. Comanche also tallied the league’s 10th most fouls (93).

Stockton sported the best regular season record in the G-League last season. Comanche would often come off the bench, primarily functioning as the backup center to Neemias Queta. At 6’10”, with Comanche’s athleticism and will, he has impressive moments as a rim protector.

Offensively, he excelled as a finisher in Stockon’s offense that mimics Sacramento, converting 62.9 percent of his attempts. That ranked as the ninth-best field-goal percentage in the G-League. The motion offense that the Kings have in place can be tough for bigs to adapt to, but Comanche comes into training camp with experience in the system.

Considering he went just 3/12 from three-point range with Stockton, his lack of shooting from range could limit him from playing as a forward. There could still be an adjustment to the NBA speed, size, and skill, but he is 27 years old.

As of now, Sacramento will be bringing four centers into training camp, which is less than two weeks away. Comanche will be competing against Domantas Sabonis, Alex Len, and JaVale McGee.

With the addition of Chance Comanche, Sacramento’s roster features 18 players:

  • De’Aaron Fox / Davion Mitchell
  • Kevin Huerter / Malik Monk / Colby Jones
  • Harrison Barnes / Chris Duarte / Kessler Edwards
  • Keegan Murray / Trey Lyles / Sasha Vezenkov
  • Domantas Sabonis / Alex Len / JaVale McGee / Chance Comanche
  • Two-Ways: Keon Ellis / Jalen Slawson / Jordan Ford

Teams are allowed to bring up to 21 players into training camp, so the Kings may not be done. They still have a potential hole at third-string point guard and could always use more wings.

Any additional players that are brought in would be added competition for Chance Comanche.
