The Sacramento Kings are two games into the preseason.

In two road games, they’ve yet to come out as the winners. But there’s been positives. Fans have gotten to see a more aggressive Keegan Murray and former EuroLeague MVP Sasha Vezenkov in his first NBA action.

What are our hosts looking for in the remaining Kings preseason games?

Jason Ross

What I am looking for is the “new” elements to the Kings. A lot of the core is back. We are familiar with that, they are comfortable with one another and that shouldn’t lead to too many questions.

The question then is, what is new? I am looking at three key new pieces to the mix. Former EuroLeague MVP Sasha Vezenkov. I know he can play but how will he fit into this mix? I am very curious about Chris Duarte. I think he showed a lot in his rookie season with Indiana. Year two wasn’t as productive for multiple reasons, but year three is now here in Sacramento. I think he has a chance to have a nice role with this team.

Lastly, the veteran JaVale McGee. He has been around, has experience, and knows what it takes to be a champion. He is a perfect bench fit for what the Kings have been missing. The new faces are what intrigues me the most.

Chris Watkins

I don’t care about preseason and have a problem with people breaking down preseason action intensely.

IT DOESN’T MEAN ANYTHING AS AN INDICATOR OF WHAT THE REGULAR SEASON WILL HOLD.

The only thing I’m remotely monitoring is the comfort level of Sasha Vezenkov with the NBA game. Besides that, performance, results, and rotations are all things that are not indicative of what will go down in the regular season.

Kevin Gleason

Like every other Kings fan, I am very much looking forward to watching Vezenkov shoot the ball this preseason, and I’ll also be anxiously hoping to see the Kings start to play more physical defense. Or any defense at all, for that matter.

Other than that, I am very intrigued by the idea of rookie Colby Jones competing for the third point guard spot. Jones played both guard positions at Xavier, so learning to play more point at the game’s highest level may not be easy. But the idea of a player with 6’6″ Jones, plus his shooting and defensive potential, is an exciting one.
