Hours before Mike Brown and the Sacramento Kings celebrated the team’s first win of the season, another mass shooting happened in the U.S.

According to ABC News, 18 people were killed and an additional 13 were injured by a suspected gunman in Maine Wednesday evening. As of Thursday morning, the suspect is still on the loose.

Following the Kings’ victory, Brown used his postgame press conference to address what happened on the other side of the country.

“I’m not that smart, but I know we as a country need to do something,” Brown said at the start of his press conference.

Brown, clearly emotional, expressed that what happened was “absolutely disgusting.”

“And it’s sad, and it’s sad that we sit here and watch this happen time after time after time after time and nobody does anything about it,” Brown said. “It’s a sad day. It’s a sad day for our country. It’s a sad day for our world and until we decide to do something about it, the powers that be, this is going to keep happening. And our kids aren’t going to be able to enjoy what the United States is about because we don’t know how to fix a problem that’s right in front of us. Sad. I feel for the families.”

Mike Brown was a member of the Golden State Warriors coaching staff when Steve Kerr also used his platform to speak out against gun violence in the United States. Following the mass shooting at Uvalde High School in Uvalde, Texas, Kerr passionately used his time following a team practice to say he was tired of conference thoughts and prayers.

“When are we going to do something?” Kerr said. “I’m tired. I am so tired of getting up here and offering condolences to the devastated families that are out there. I am so tired of the excuse, I am sorry, I am tired of the moments of silence. Enough!”
