On Tuesday, the Pro Football Hall of Fame announced 25 modern-era semifinalists for the Class of 2024 and only one former Oakland Raiders player made the list.

Cornerback Eric Allen was among the names announced, marking his fourth straight year on the list.

Drafted in 1988 by the Philadelphia Eagles, Allen would spend seven years in Philly, where he was named to the Pro Football Writers of America’s All-Rookie Team and made First-Team All-Pro in his second season. By the time he left the Eagles in 1995, he had made the Pro Bowl five times.

Allen joined the New Orleans Saints in 1995, where he made the Pro Bowl team one more time.

In 1998, he was traded by the New Orleans Saints to the Oakland Raiders, where he finished his career. As a member of the Silver & Black, Allen started 56 games, recording 15 interceptions and two forced fumbles which led to four touchdowns. He also recorded 196 solo tackles.

In his career, Eric Allen recorded:

  • 379 solo tackles
  • 787 combined tackles
  • 54 interceptions
  • Six forced fumbles

Eric Allen currently serves as the Raiders game-day analyst.

The 25 semifinalists, were reduced from a list of 173 nominees announced in September. Before the final voting process, that number will again be reduced to 15 former players. The 2024 Pro Football Hall of Fame Class will then be announced just before Super Bowl LVIII.
