Sacramento Kings assistant coach Jay Triano joined Kyle Draper from the road Friday night before their matchup with the Philadelphia 76ers later that night.

They discussed how the NBA has changed over the years, comparing the pace of the often referenced ‘Seven Seconds or Less’ Phoenix Suns’ to where they would rank today — towards the bottom of the league compared to the modern pace.

As the conversation continued, Jay Triano went into why some of their offensive numbers have dipped compared to last season’s league-leading offensive rating. He shared the statistics they pay close attention to and why their shooting struggles this season are a reason for optimism, to an extent.

Other topics discussed include:

  • Being part of the staff that helped bring the Sacramento Kings back to relevancy
  • Jordi Fernandez being the head coach of Team Canada
  • Why he decided to join Mike Brown last season — and the brief history of their relationship
  • The greatness of Domantas Sabonis and how much they run the offense through him
  • Keys to overcoming the Philadelphia 76ers Friday night
  • And plenty more!

When is the next Sacramento Kings game?

After starting the road trip against two teams with a combined winning percentage of .154, the heat will turn up for Sacramento before returning home.

Friday night’s game against the Philadelphia 76ers will be the first of three upcoming matchups against 2022-23 playoff teams. After facing the 76ers on ESPN, the Kings will travel to Milwaukee and Phoenix before flying back to Sacramento.

The Kings have lost nine straight games against the 76ers, with their most recent win coming on February 2, 2019. Sacramento has not beaten Philadelphia at Wells Fargo Center since December 19, 2017 (lost the past five games).
