Instead of coming home on the heels of a successful road trip, the Sacramento Kings suffered back-to-back heartbreaking losses before boarding a plane back to Northern California.

One game removed from losing by one point on a Damian Lillard buzzer-beater in Milwaukee, the Kings squandered a 22-point fourth-quarter lead during a 119-117 loss to the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday night.

NBC Sports California analyst Kayte Christensen joined The Carmichael Dave Show with Jason Ross on Wednesday morning to break down what went wrong for Sacramento, discuss what the Kings need to do to avoid meltdowns and much more.

Topics Discussed

  • Was it surprising how Sacramento lost its rhythm late?
  • Kayte says that the Kings’ previous losses this season have been “nothing” like the past two
  • Does Sacramento need more out of its leaders to avoid late-game meltdowns like Sunday and Tuesday?
  • Why aren’t the leaders of this team coming out to the podium to speak to the media following bad losses?
  • Is the inconsistency from Sacramento going to push Monte McNair to make a trade?
  • Kayte says her gut tells her the Kings will stick with a majority of the roster and keep the chemistry intact
  • “If there’s a move to be made that they feel makes this team better, they’ll make it. They aren’t going to make a move because of a knee-jerk reaction to some bad losses.”
  • Did Sacramento get caught off guard by Phoenix moving Kevin Durant to the five during crunch time?
  • Was last night a “learning lesson” for the Kings?
  • Can Sacramento bounce back against the Indiana Pacers on Thursday?

Listen to The Carmichael Dave Show with Jason Ross from 6 – 10 a.m. PST, Monday through Friday, on Sactown Sports 1140.

When is the next Sacramento Kings game?

Sacramento will return to Northern California for a brief two-game homestand before hitting the road for a seven-game trip.

The Kings will face a shorthanded Indiana Pacers team that will be without old friend and All-Star guard Tyrese Haliburton (hamstring).

While Indiana will be without Haliburton, they still have the firepower to make life difficult for Sacramento thanks to an offense that leads the NBA in points per game and offensive rating.
