Arizona State guard promises to donate $20 per steal to Sacramento school

Arizona State guard Frankie Collins wants to give back to his hometown school in Northern California.

The Sacramento native announced on X that for each steal this season, he’ll donate $20 to an elementary school in Sacramento. Collins is currently averaging 3.1 steals per game. Recently against USC, he recorded six steals, the second time this season he had that many steals in a game. His season-high was eight steals against UMass Lowell.

If the season ended today, he would donate $1,160 to the unnamed school off of his 58 steals. But, there are still 12 games left in the season and any potential tournament appearances.

For every steal this 23-24 szn I will donate $20 to a elementary school in Sacramento, CA at the end of the season so whatever number steals I have $20 for each steal.

After one year playing for the Michigan Wolverines, Frankie Collins transferred to Arizona State, where he’s currently averaging 13.6 points, 3.7 assists and 4.9 rebounds. The Sun Devils are currently 11-8 and third in Pac-12.

After the team’s recent 82-67 win over USC, coach Bobby Hurley said Collins wants to play defense and wants to guard.

“He’s got great natural instincts so that’s why you’re seeing where the steal numbers are,” Hurley, said, adding Collins’ is “lights out” when it comes to understanding the defensive philosophy and planning concepts for opponents.
