Arik Armstead made an impact on and off the field Sunday.

During the NFC Championship Game, the 30-year-old defensive end recovered a key third-quarter fumble, which eventually led to a Christian McCaffrey game-tying touchdown.

But it was his work before the game that left one little boy in tears. The Armstead Academic Project announced plans to send a Sacramento boy to Super Bowl LVIII.

With the help of NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, two tickets were given to 10-year-old Adrian McIntyre, who is an active participant in The Armstead Project Summer Academy, an initiative spearheaded by San Francisco 49ers’ Arik Armstead and wife Melinda Armstead.

Armstead started his nonprofit in 2019 to help ensure education equity for all youth in his hometown of Sacramento and Northern California.

Arik Armstead was selected with the 17th overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft by the 49ers. In nine seasons with the Red & Gold, he’s registered 302 tackles, 33.5 sacks, three forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.

Key offseason dates for Arik Armstead and the San Francisco 49ers

  • Sunday, Feb. 4th – Pro Bowl Games
  • Sunday, Feb. 11th – Super Bowl LVIII, Allegiant Stadium, Las Vegas
  • Tuesday, Feb. 20th – Teams can begin franchising players until Tuesday, March 5th
