The San Francisco 49ers started their Super Bowl practice week as healthy as they hoped, with only two starters limited on Day 1.

49ers coach Kyle Shanahan revealed Wednesday that defensive lineman Arik Armstead and tight end George Kittle worked out in limited capacity. Both men have been dealing with injuries for the last few weeks, with Armstead missing multiple regular-season games this season.

Armstead, 30, has been dealing with foot and knee issues for the better part of part of three months. After playing through the injuries Week 13 against the Philadelphia Eagles, the Sacramento native was put on the shelf for the rest of the regular season.

Armstead dealt with plantar fasciitis during the 2022 season as well, missing nine contests for the 49ers.

Meanwhile, Kittle is dealing with a toe issue that has been nagging since the NFC Championship game. He has only missed one game this season, and it was Week 18 after the 49ers had already clinched the No.1 seed in the playoffs.

Both players are expected to play in Super Bowl LVIII nonetheless, with Shanahan hopeful they can be full-go Thursday.

Also limited on the injury report for Wednesday was cornerback Ambry Thomas and linebacker Oren Burks. Left tackle Trent Williams did not practice, taking his usual rest day at the start of the week.

For the Kansas City Chiefs, only left guard Joe Thuney is expected to miss the Super Bowl. The Pro-Bowler missed the AFC Championship game with a pectoral injury, and is seen as a long-shot to play this Sunday as well.

Upcoming Schedule for the San Francisco 49ers
