Chris Biderman, of The Sacramento Bee and host of The Candlestick Chronicles podcast, joined Stiles & Watkins Tuesday morning to discuss the San Francisco 49er’s heartbreaking Super Bowl 58 loss, the future of some players, including Brandon Aiyuk and Jauan Jennings, and more.

The trio began their conversation with the recent criticism head coach Kyle Shanahan has been receiving for a variety of reasons. From Biderman’s perspective, it’s more of a compliment to the greatness of Andy Ried and the Kansas City Chiefs than a critique of Shanahan.

They discussed George Kittle not getting involved much in the passing game and wondered if he could decide to repair his shoulder this offseason.

With the Super Bowl in the rearview, offseason conversation begins quickly. They dove into some recent comments from Brandon Aiyuk and the people around him, questioning his future with San Francisco despite being under contract for next season.

Jauan Jennings looked like a potential Super Bowl MVP candidate if the 49ers would have won, but how does that performance affect his price tag in free agency? Biderman shared why he believes it’s unlikely they will re-sign Jauan Jennings. He compared the situation to when Kendrick Bourne was playing well for the Niners years ago, but when free agency came, he garnered a price they were unwilling to pay.

Yet, after Bourne moved on, they eventually found Jauan Jennings to fill a similar role.
