The Athletic’s Jason Jones joined “The Drive Guys” to talk about how the Sacramento Kings will perform in their remaining 28 games.
When the Kings entered the All-Star break last season, they were 32-25 and sitting in the three-seed of the Western Conference. This year, they have nearly an identical record, 31-23, but are eighth in the Western Conference. And while last season was a great season for the Kings, as Jones put it, every season is its own story, and this season is not last season.
“You can’t hold onto what last season was. Last season was last season. You had a lot of teams that had a lot of injuries and a lot of things broke well for the Kings,” Jones said. “That’s not the case this year, so they’re going to have to go out there and create another story this season.”
Additional topics discussed include:
- How much of a commitment will the Sacramento Kings make on the defensive end to close the season?
- People probably didn’t see the Minnesota Timberwolves or Oklahoma City Thunder making a big jump this season
- Being shocked neither De’Aaron Fox nor Domantas Sabonis made the All-Star game
- Keegan Murray’s second year ups and downs
- NBA players are the only ones who can fix the All-Star game
