While the 49ers fell short of their Super Bowl dreams, like general manager John Lynch said, you have to use it as fuel for next season.

The San Francisco 49ers will play visitors to eight opponents during the 2024 NFL regular season, two of them being AFC franchises.  Those opponents are two perennial playoff contenders in the Buffalo Bills and the Miami Dolphins.

Exact dates have not been confirmed at this time, but it’s never too early to look ahead to next season.

Arizona Cardinals

The 49ers and Cardinals have matched up against each other since 1951, with the former holding the all-time record at 36-29. Since 2001, both teams have been divisional foes in the NFC West, with hotly-contested games over the last 23 years.

SF has had all the success in recent years, winning the last four matchups against Arizona. The two last met in Week 15 of the 2023 regular season, with the visiting 49ers winning, 45-29. However, the Cardinals finished the game with more total yards than the 49ers (436), including a 90-yard advantage on the ground.

Facing them twice more in 2024, these divisional clashes should be competitive affairs for the foreseeable future.

Buffalo Bills

The 49ers and Bills have a short, yet prolonged history, first facing one another in 1972. Since then, the games have been back and forth, with Buffalo leading the all-time series, 7-6.

Bills Mafia has taken control of thy matchup most recently, currently on a two-game win streak. The two sids last met in 2020, with quarterback Josh Allen and Co. winning, 34-24. SF last beat the New York franchise in 2012, 45-3.

San Francisco will have to make the cross-country trek to Buffalo next season for the 14th installment.

Green Bay Packers

The 49ers-Packers rivalry has a long history, dating back to 1950. The two teams have met 73 times total, with the latter in the lead at 38-34-1.

San Francisco has been on the winning end as of late however, currently on a two-game win streak. The two franchises last met in the 2024 postseason, with the 49ers winning, 24-21, in the NFC Divisional Round. The Red & Gold won the previous game in the playoffs as well, on a last-second field goal by Robbie Gould in 2022.

Both NFC titans will collide once more in 2024, this time at Lambeau Field.

Los Angeles Rams

The biggest rivalry in the NFC West over the last half-decade, the 49ers and Rams will meet two more times next season.

The two rivals first met in 1950, now sharing a whopping 150 contests in NFL history. San Francisco has the all-time record over their divisional foe at 78-69-3. While the Rams won their most recent meeting in Week 18 of last season (21-20), the 49ers enjoyed a three-game win streak prior to that. The Rams lost six consecutive contests before that.

The point is that the 49ers have dominated in recent memory.

Miami Dolphins

The 49ers and Dolphins have a shorter history of only 15 meetings, but are now connected more than ever because of the coaching staffs.

Miami has a slight edge on the all-time record (8-7), but that could change in 2024. The two sides last met during the 2022 season, with the 49ers winning, 33-17. That game will forever be remembered for QB Brock Purdy replacing the injured Jimmy Garoppolo in the first half. And as we all know, the rest is history.

2024 will see Purdy and Co. travel to Florida for a matchup between two playoff contenders.

Minnesota Vikings

The 49ers know the Vikings far too well, seeing them three times in the last four seasons. The matchup has been tightly contested for decades, with SF having the advantage all-time at 25-24-1.

Minnesota got on back the last time they met however, with QB Kirk Cousins torching the 49ers’ defense Week 7 of last season. That game finished 22-17, and started a snowball effect for the departure of defensive coordinator Steve Wilks.

In 2024, the Red & Gold will travel back to Minneapolis for another NFC showdown.

Seattle Seahawks

Finally, the 49ers and Seahawks, arguably the most intense NFC West rivalry over the last 20 years.

San Francisco trails Seattle on the all-time scoreboard (30-22), but have been cutting the deficit the last two seasons. The 49ers are currently on a five-game win streak over their rivals. All of those wins have come without QB Russell Wilson on the other side, who holds a 17-4 record when facing SF.

The 49ers’ most recent victory came in Week 14 last season, beating the Seahawks, 28-16.

The hostile foes will meet up twice more in 2024.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Last but not least, the 49ers will head to Tampa Bay for a clash with the Buccaneers.

2024 will be the third season in a row the two sides have faced one another, with SF playing host the previous two meetings. The 49ers have dominated the all-time series (20-7), currently on a three-game win streak over the Bucs. Last time out, SF won comfortably, 27-14, Week 11 of the 2023 season.

2024 will see San Francisco travel to West Florida for the first time since 2019.
