It looks like Brandon Allen is sticking around the Bay Area for a little longer.
According to multiple reports from Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports Bay Area and NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, the San Francisco 49ers are bringing back Allen on a one-year contract extension. The terms of the contract were not released.
The 31-year-old quarterback joined San Francisco last season. He did not play a single snap for the 49ers.
Brandon Allen was third on the team’s quarterback depth chart, behind starter Brock Purdy and backup Sam Darnold, who is set to become a free agent.
Selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the sixth round of the 2016 NFL Draft, Allen has played for numerous teams, including the Los Angeles Rams, Denver Broncos, and Cincinnati Bengals. His best year came in 2020 when he threw for nearly 1,000 yards with the Bengals.
CONFIRMED: 49ers are bringing back quarterback, Brandon Allan, per his agent, Kyle Strongin.
