Domantas Sabonis now holds the record for the longest single-season double-double streak in NBA history since the NBA/ABA merger in 1976-77, passing Kevin Love.

During the third quarter of Monday’s matchup against the Philadelphia 76ers, Sabonis tallied 11 points, ten rebounds, and eight assists, extending his streak to 54 games.

Love set the previous record (53) during the 2010-11 season with the Minnesota Timberwolves. The only other players who have accomplished such a streak or longer came before the 1976 merger. The eleven previous instances came from Wilt Chamberlain (6x), Walt Bellamy (1), Elgin Baylor (1), and Elvin Hayes (2):

  • Wilt Chamberlin (1966-67): 81
  • Wilt Chamberlin (1963-64): 80
  • Wilt Chamberlin (1961-62): 80
  • Walt Bellamy (1961-62): 79
  • Wilt Chamberlin (1960-61): 79
  • Elgin Baylor (1960-61): 70
  • Wilt Chamberlin (1967-68): 66
  • Elvin Hayes (1968-69): 60
  • Wilt Chamberlin (1959-60): 56
  • Elvin Hayes (1973-74): 55
  • Domantas Sabonis (2023-24): 54
  • Kevin Love (2010-11): 53

This isn’t the first record Domantas Sabonis has broken in his short tenure with the Sacramento Kings. Last season, with a fractured right thumb, the Kings’ center ended the year with the most triple-doubles (14) and the most double-doubles (65) in a single season in the Sacramento era.

When is the next Sacramento Kings game?

Sacramento will enter a pivotal two-game stretch–both against the Dallas Mavericks at Golden 1 Center–that will begin on Tuesday night in front of a national audience on TNT.

The Kings hold a 2-0 record against Dallas this season, with both wins coming on the road. Tuesday’s game will have postseason implications as Sacramento will enter play in a tie with the Mavs for the seventh spot in the Western Conference standings.

Playoff implications. A national broadcast. Plenty of talent on the floor. Get ready for an action-packed two-game set between these two postseason hopefuls.

Be sure to tune in right here on Sactown Sports 1140 for all of your Kings vs. Mavericks coverage, beginning at 5:30 PM PST on Game Night before a 7:00 PM PST tip-off from downtown Sacramento.
