Sacramento Kings guard Malik Monk narrowly missed securing the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year Award on Wednesday, falling just ten voting points short of Minnesota’s Naz Reid.

The Athletic’s Sam Amick joined The Carmichael Dave Show with Jason Ross on Thursday morning to discuss the NBA awards voting process, explain why Monk’s standing in the voting could have been affected late in the season, and much more.

Plus: If Kings head coach Mike Brown isn’t given an extension this summer, will it be a distraction for Sacramento?
