NBA Draft Player Profile: Rob Dillingham

As we inch closer to the 2024 NBA Draft, Allen Stiles and Chris Watkins are beginning to examine players who could be on the Sacramento Kings’ radar.

The Kings hold the 13th pick in the draft, meaning they could bring in a player to help the team from day one, whether by using the pick on a prospect or by moving the pick to upgrade the roster via trade.

For Sacramento, adding a floor-spacing forward or big should be on general manager Monte McNair’s to-do list, but that doesn’t mean he won’t pick the player he and the rest of the Kings’ front office believe to be the best available.

Today, Allen and Chris break down Kentucky Wildcats point guard Rob Dillingham, a member of the Second-Team All-SEC team and the 2023-24 SEC Sixth Man of the Year award winner.

Scouting Report via NBA Draft Room

A pure athlete with blazing speed and great hops who is electric on the court. Has a long, wiry 6-1 or 6-2 frame with quick-twitch athleticism and tons of bounce. He plays above the rim with ease and has exceptional ability with the ball in his hands.

He has advanced handles and can shake the defender, get to the rim, or create space for his shot. He puts on a show with the ball in his hands and is lethal on step-back jumpers.

He isn’t a pure shooter at this point but shows a lot of promise and has been filling it up from all levels this year. His 3-point shot isn’t picture-perfect, but he knocks them down and shoots with a ton of confidence. He is a big-shot taker and maker.

He has good point guard instincts and distributes the ball well. He has done a good job of cutting down on turnovers and harnessing his speed and talents into a more controlled game.

When is the next NBA off-season date of interest?

The NBA Draft is now a two-night event.

Wednesday, June 26th, will act as the first night of the 2024 NBA Draft, where the Sacramento Kings will make their first-round selection (13th). The second round of the draft will be held on Thursday, June 27th, where the Kings will use its 45th overall pick.

Sacramento hasn’t had a first-round pick since 2022, when it selected Iowa product Keegan Murray with the fourth overall pick.
