LAS VEGAS, NV - FEBRUARY 02: The betting line and some of the nearly 400 proposition bets for Super Bowl 50 between the Carolina Panthers and the Denver Broncos are displayed at the Race & Sports SuperBook at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino on February 2, 2016 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The newly renovated sports book has the world's largest indoor LED video wall with 4,488 square feet of HD video screens measuring 240 feet wide and 20 feet tall.

The early action on the Super Bowl LII match up had been evenly divided between the Patriots and Eagles. That changed on Wednesday. MGM vice president of race and sports, Jay Rood, told ESPN.com  an unidentified bettor placed a “multimillion-dollar” bet on the underdog Eagles.

Rood declined to reveal the exact dollar amount of the bet, but did confirm it was in the multimillions, making it one of the largest bets on a sporting event in recent years.

In addition to the multimillion-dollar bet, Rood said he had taken a couple of six-figure wagers and several five-figure bets ranging from $10,000 up to $80,000. “Last year, on Saturday and Sunday, we took probably a record number of six-figure wagers. I’m thinking the same kind of thing is going to happen this year.”

The Patriots are currently 5-point favorites at the majority of Nevada sportsbooks.
