49ers unveil $200 million renovations at Levi’s Stadium

The San Francisco 49ers welcomed hundreds of season ticket holders for “Levi’s® Stadium Under the Lights” presented by ANC. The event celebrated the completion of the team’s two-year, $200 million stadium renovation project and the start of the NFL season.

Headlining the event was a live demonstration of the venue’s enhanced fan experience and gameday entertainment capabilities, featuring two brand-new 4K video boards that are 70% larger than the previous boards. In addition to the significant size increase, the boards feature over 300% more pixels, giving fans brighter, crisper, and clearer views of the game. Levi’s® Stadium now has the largest 4K display in the NFL.

Complementing the minutes-long fireworks show, new LED field lights and ribbon boards illuminated the stadium, giving fans a sneak peek at the enhanced fan experience that will be on display throughout the NFL season.

Before the show, fans were granted exclusive access to the newly remodeled 49ers Team Store presented by Visa and a behind-the-scenes tour of the new 49ers gameday production room, the largest of its kind on the West Coast.

These renovations were made to enhance the fan experience, extend the life of the venue, and prepare for 2026, when Levi’s® Stadium will become the first venue in global history to host the Super Bowl and FIFA World Cup in the same year. Furthermore, the renovations will benefit the stadium far beyond 2026; they will enable Levi’s® Stadium to continue bringing world-class events to the Bay Area and generating economic impact for years to come.

In its first 10 years, Levi’s® Stadium generated over $2 billion in economic impact for Santa Clara and the surrounding Bay Area. Thanks to Super Bowl LX and six FIFA World Cup matches, the stadium is projected to generate over $1 billion in 2026 alone.

The San Francisco 49ers do not expect to have receiver Brandon Aiyuk on the field for the season-opening game against the Seattle Seahawks on Sept. 7.

Aiyuk is battling back from a serious right knee injury that included tears to the ACL and MCL. He was injured in Week 7 of last season.

San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch told KNBR on Thursday that Brandon Aiyuk is making progress, but the team isn’t ready to put a date on his return.

“There’s just steps that you have to continue to hit and I’ll continue to say that Brandon is doing very well in his rehab,” Lynch said. “Do we have an exact date right now? No. I don’t think it’ll be Week 1, but hopefully I’m surprised. We’ll see — continue to watch him work his way through his rehab. But we want him fully healthy.

“He had a significant injury, so you have to do a significant rehab. He’s doing a really good job with that, and we got to continue to do so.”
