Former Kings guard Marco Belinelli retires from basketball

Former Sacramento Kings guard Marco Belinelli has announced his retirement from professional basketball.

Belinelli, 39, took to Instagram to bid farewell to his playing days following 23 years of action. The 6’5 Italian guard spent 13 seasons in the NBA before returning to Italy following the 2019-20 season.

Over 13 seasons in the NBA, Belinelli spent time with the Golden State Warriors, Toronto Raptors, New Orleans Hornets, Chicago Bulls, Sacramento Kings, Charlotte Hornets, Atlanta Hawks, Philadelphia 76ers, and San Antonio Spurs.

Belinelli was a member of the Spurs’ 2013-14 team that won the NBA Finals.

Over 860 games, Belinelli averaged 9.7 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game on 42 percent shooting from the field, 37 percent from three-point range, and 84 percent from the free-throw line.

Belinelli spent the 2015-16 season in Sacramento, where he shot a career-worst 30 percent from three-point range over 68 appearances. Following the season, the Kings traded Belinelli to Charlotte for guard Malachi Richardson.

The Sacramento Kings will play every other NBA team at least twice during the 2025-26 season.

Regarded as one of the lower-tier teams in the Western Conference adds to their difficulty. Sacramento will only play each Eastern Conference team twice, per usual.

Sacramento fans will be used to a lack of nationally broadcast games, but the additions of new streaming platforms (Amazon Prime and Peacock) helped them have nine scheduled for 2025-2026.

Those games are as follows:

• December 8th, @ Indiana Pacers – 4 PM PST (Peackcock)
• December 30th @ LA Clippers– 8 PM PST (NBC)
• January 6th vs. Dallas Mavericks – 8 PM PT (NBC)
• January 12th vs. Los Angeles Lakers – 7 PM PT (Peacock)
• February 6th vs. LA Clippers – 7 PM PST (Prime)
• March 3rd vs. Phoenix Suns – 8 PM PST (NBC)
• March 17th vs. San Antonio Spurs – 8 PM PST (NBC)

When is the next Sacramento Kings game?

Sacramento Kings preseason basketball is on the way, but we’ll have to wait a bit longer before we see the Beam Team back in action.

The Kings will open up their preseason slate on Wednesday, October 8th, at home against the Toronto Raptors. You can see the full preseason schedule below.

Sacramento will begin the regular season on Wednesday, October 22nd in Phoenix before returning home to play its home-opener against the Utah Jazz on Friday, October 24th.
