When Does NFL Free Agency Start?

Technically, the process begins with the legal tampering period on Monday, March 9, 2026 at 9 a.m. PT. That’s when teams are allowed to negotiate with agents of unrestricted free agents. And like clockwork, fully structured contracts with precise dollar amounts and incentives are agreed to within minutes of the official window opening.
