For the first time in program history, UC Davis football is set to host the national stage at UC Davis Health Stadium during the regular season when ESPN2 comes to town to broadcast the Aggie homecoming showdown on Oct. 3 against Eastern Washington, set to kick off at 7:30 p.m.
It’s the third-straight season the Aggies will be featured on a linear ESPN network during the regular season and it’s the first time in program history the Aggies are hosting a non-postseason linear ESPN network game.
For the Big Sky, the Aggies are one of five games the ESPN will feature on their networks this season, marking a conference-high and for UC Davis it will be the fourth time they have played on an ESPN network as part of the conference’s national partnership with ESPN.

“We have one of the best universities in the country and it brings me a lot of joy every time we get to show the country that on the national stage,” said head coach Tim Plough.
“We’re proud that we have built a football program that has earned the chance to perform for a national audience. It’s a great opportunity for the UC Davis students, alumni, and community to fill Shredville to the max. Let’s continue to create a great environment to showcase this wonderful university and we’re thankful to have another chance to do that in 2026”
UC Davis took down then-ranked No. 7 Montana in Missoula, Mont., on ESPN2 back in 2024 and they were part of the Big Sky’s 2025 package of ESPN games during a visit to Bozeman, Mont., where the Aggie faced the eventual national champions on ESPN2.
At home, the Aggies hosted their first ever linear ESPN game during the second round of the 2025 NCAA Division I Football Championships, where the Aggies knocked off Rhode Island for a second-straight season of second round playoff victory in Davis.
The primetime homecoming showcase will be the third nationally broadcasted game of the season, with the Aggies being featured on the ACCNX when they visit SMU on Sept. 12 and on Scripps Sports when Montana comes to Davis on Sept. 26.
