Kings waive guard Isaiah Stevens, open two-way spot

The Sacramento Kings have opened a roster spot ahead of training camp, waiving two-way guard Isaiah Stevens, according to HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto.

Stevens, 25, spent the 2025-26 season on a two-way contract with Sacramento, but spent most of the season putting together an impressive campaign with the Stockton Kings in the G League.

The former Colorado State standout averaged 14.5 points, 8.6 assists, and 3.4 rebounds per game while shooting 47 percent from the field and 32 percent from deep over 13 games.

Although Stevens excelled in Stockton, his opportunities with Sacramento were limited. He appeared in just three NBA games during the 2025-26 season, averaging 3.3 points and 3.3 assists in limited minutes.

The move leaves the Kings with one open two-way contract heading into training camp, which is scheduled to begin in roughly two months.

Sacramento currently has two of its three two-way spots occupied by forward Jonathan Mogbo and guard Adam Flagler. The organization now has flexibility to evaluate talent throughout the remainder of the offseason and during training camp before deciding who will claim the final roster spot.

General manager Scott Perry has already shown the value of maximizing two-way contracts. Last season, the Kings signed undrafted center Dylan Cardwell to a two-way deal after a strong Summer League showing. Cardwell quickly carved out a role with his rim protection, rebounding, and defensive energy, eventually earning a standard NBA contract.

That success story could serve as a blueprint for Sacramento once again.

Whether the Sacramento Kings target another undrafted rookie, a standout G League performer, or a veteran looking to revive his NBA career remains to be seen.

Perry and his staff have some time to evaluate their options and see what’s out there on the market, or Sacramento could even begin the season with an open two-way slot.
