Mike Evans earns top-10 WR rating on Madden 27

Madden 27 is continuing its ratings rollout ahead of launch, and the San Francisco 49ers’ newest star wide receiver has landed among the game’s elite.

EA Sports released its top 10 wide receiver ratings for Madden 27, with Mike Evans checking in at No. 10 overall with a 91 overall rating.

Evans joins an impressive list of pass catchers led by Ja’Marr Chase and Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who both earned 99 overall ratings. Puka Nacua (98), Amon-Ra St. Brown (95), Justin Jefferson (94), CeeDee Lamb (93), Drake London (92), DeVonta Smith (92), and Terry McLaurin (91) round out the players ranked ahead of or alongside the veteran 49ers receiver.

Madden 27 will be released on Thursday, August 13th.

Madden 27 WR Ratings

While some may argue Evans deserves to be higher, the ranking comes after an injury-shortened 2025 campaign.

The 33-year-old appeared in just eight games after suffering a fractured collarbone, finishing with 30 receptions for 368 yards and three touchdowns.

Still, one down year wasn’t enough to erase more than a decade of elite production.

Before last season, Evans had posted 11 consecutive 1,000-yard receiving seasons, tying Hall of Famer Jerry Rice for the longest streak in NFL history. He’s also averaged 10 touchdown receptions per season across his 12-year NFL career, making him one of the most consistent red-zone threats of his generation.

The 49ers are banking on that consistency carrying over to Santa Clara.

San Francisco signed Evans to a three-year deal this offseason to give quarterback Brock Purdy a proven No. 1 target, and the veteran believes he’s arriving at the perfect time.

During his introductory press conference, Evans said the 49ers were his top football destination in free agency and even went as far as calling himself the “missing piece” for a team he believes is ready to contend for another Super Bowl.

If Evans returns to his pre-injury form, there’s a good chance his Madden 27 rating won’t stay at 91 for long.

A healthy season alongside Purdy in Kyle Shanahan’s offense could give the future Hall of Famer another opportunity to prove he’s still one of the NFL’s premier wide receivers–both on Sundays and in the virtual world.
