Christian McCaffrey proved in 2025 that he’s still one of the NFL’s most dynamic offensive weapons, and Madden 27 is recognizing that with its latest player ratings.
The newest Madden 27 ratings place McCaffrey as the No. 2 running back in the game with a 97 overall rating.
Only Detroit Lions star Jahmyr Gibbs sits ahead of the 49ers standout at 98 overall, while Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor rounds out the top three at 96.
McCaffrey is coming off a remarkable bounce-back campaign that earned him the NFL’s Comeback Player of the Year award. After battling injuries the previous season, the veteran running back appeared in all 17 games for San Francisco in 2025 and once again established himself as the centerpiece of Kyle Shanahan’s offense.
Madden 27 Ratings: Top RBs

The 29-year-old rushed for 1,202 yards and 10 touchdowns while adding another 924 receiving yards and seven receiving touchdowns on 102 receptions. His all-around production earned him Pro Bowl honors and First-Team All-Pro recognition, further cementing his status as one of football’s premier offensive players.
That performance is reflected in the Madden 27 ratings. McCaffrey finished ahead of Jonathan Taylor (96), Bijan Robinson (95), James Cook III (94), Derrick Henry (93), Saquon Barkley (92), Josh Jacobs (91), Kenneth Walker III (90) and Kyren Williams (89).
While Gibbs claimed the top spot this year, McCaffrey’s 97 overall demonstrates that EA Sports still views the 49ers star as one of the league’s elite playmakers. Few running backs possess his versatility as both a runner and receiver, making him one of the most difficult players for opposing defenses to contain.
As San Francisco enters the 2026 season with Super Bowl aspirations, McCaffrey will once again be expected to anchor one of the NFL’s most explosive offenses. If his 2025 campaign is any indication, there’s little reason to believe he’ll relinquish his place among the league’s best anytime soon.
With another elite rating in Madden 27, McCaffrey continues to be recognized as one of the NFL’s premier running backs and one of the most complete offensive weapons in football.
