San Jose Sharks captain Joe Pavelski remains day-to-day before their Game 7 matchup against the Colorado Avalanche Wednesday night.
San Jose head coach Peter DeBoer spoke to the media on a conference call Tuesday saying that Pavelski will be a game-time decision Wednesday.
“I’m not hiding anything,” DeBoer said. “He’s day-to-day, He’s getting better every day. We’re going to make a decision on game day whether he’ll be available or not.
Pavelski hasn’t played since the third period of Game 7 against the Vegas Golden Knights when he was cross-checked by Cody Eakin and then was knocked head first into the ice by Paul Stastny. The blow knocked Pavelski out and caused him to bleed from his head.
“It’s close,” Pavelski told the media before Game 6. “We’re still checking out a few things here and there and seeing where it needs to get to and how fast.”
DeBoer also added that once Pavelski is cleared to play, the team will have no hesitations playing the 34-year-old center. In the seven game series against the Golden Knights, Pavelski scored four points on two goals and two assists.
