While the Raider defense kept the game alive in the second half, rookie quarterback Aidan O’Connell threw three interceptions, including a game-sealing pick in the final minutes of the Dolphins 20-13 win.
Sunday’s loss, the first under interim coach Antonio Pierce, was a tale of two halves for Las Vegas. In the first half, the offense put up 133 yards and their lone touchdown. Davante Adams was able to get past the Dolphins’ secondary for a 46-yard touchdown, their longest play of the day. The Raiders wouldn’t hold the 10-7 lead for long, as Tua Tagovailoa would connect with running back Salvon Ahmed, giving Miami before the half and for the remainder of the game.
Aidan O’Connell had several chances to tie the game as the Raiders defense held the Dolphins to three straight punts. On the Raiders’ final attempt, the 25-year-old quarterback was intercepted for the second time Sunday by Miami cornerback Jalen Ramsey.
After the game, O’Connell said he’s still learning how hard the NFL is.
“All around, I have to play better passing the ball, decision making, and all that stuff,” O’Connell said.
