This week on The Jason Ross & Doug Christie Show, former swimmer and seven-time Olympic medalist Amanda Beard joined the show to discuss her career and the upcoming 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.

Beard, 39, was a key member of the United States swimming teams in the 1996, 2000, 2004 and 2008 Olympic Games.

At the age of 14, Beard claimed a gold medal (4 x 100 metres Medley Relay) and two silver medals (100 meter breaststroke; 200 meter breaststroke) during the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia. In 2000, Beard took home the bronze medal for the 200 meter breaststroke.

Beard claimed another gold medal in 2004, this time in the 200 meter breaststroke to go along with two silver medals (200 meter Individual Medley; 4 x 100 meter Medley Relay).

Over the course of the interview, Beard spoke about her time in the pool, how she views Olympic swimmer Katie Ledecky in the all-time rankings, why she would never race Michael Phelps and discusses the mental health of athletes and how athletes can try and cope with the strain.
